Our AGM will be held after the show on Saturday, your participation is very important. Following the AGM there will be a potluck supper - please check out Facebook for dishes - approximately 45-50 people.
ALL class entries for penning and sorting must be entered on epenner before the cut off which is Wednesday September 17, 2025 at 6 PM
The finals weekend for all penning classes are PICK teams with the exception of the Youth teams. Go to the RULES on the altacattlepenning.com website to read all the information about qualifying, entries, format, points, etc. --- if you have questions ask one of the Directors.
Penning - To qualify for Alberta Cattlemen’s Finals, each rider must ride in 50% (4 shows in 2025) during the season, each weekend counts as 2 shows, Saturday (1) & Sunday (1).
- At the finals, classes are designated for each number:
- Open (#4, #5, #6 #7 rated riders)
- Eleven (#3 rated riders)
- Eight (#2 rated riders)
- Five (#0, #1 rated riders)
- There are NO DRAW teams in these classes at Finals!
- Each class has a maximum ride limit:
- Open (5 rides) #11 (4 rides) #8 (4 rides) #5 (4rides)
- Youth teams are draw teams, the max is 2 teams
- To qualify for Penning finals you must ride 50%(4 days) in your designated class, to qualify in an alternate class for day money, you must ride in that class at 2 shows
- Youth riders must ride in 3 shows
- BUY IN OPTION - Members have an option for a buy-in for finals: Penning - Must attend & physically ride 2 days then could buy-in 2 days at $400.00/day. Eligibility contained to the classes the rider physically rode in at the attended shows. Youth riders cannot buy-in to the youth classes.
Sorting - To qualify in sorting you must ride in 2 shows BUY IN OPTION - Sorting – Must attend and physically ride 1 day then could buy-in 1 day at $200.00
Penning classes have two full goes and a top 10 format – one full run on Saturday, one full run on Sunday – slowest to fastest for second run even if you did not pen a cow in the first run Saturday – aggregate carried to the top 10 in each penning class on Sunday. For the finals weekend classes are designated a rating number for prizes.
- Pro Am Novice Sorting Class (3 person) will run on Saturday only after the penning classes are completed - $45.00 entry – 2 full runs – 60 sec – Mandatory One pick/One draw; Two pick/Two draw; Three pick/Three draw etc. or ALL DRAW unlimited entries.

Open (1/2 sec HC) #4 and higher 5 pick $60.00 ride
Eleven #3 4 pick $50.00 ride
Eight (1 sec HC) #2 4 pick $50.00 ride
Five #0 & #1 4 pick $40.00 ride
Senior Youth 2 draw $ 5.00 ride
Junior Youth 2 draw $ 5.00 ride
Sorting Pro-Am-Novice For every pick = 1 draw OR all draws (unlimited) $45.00 ride
Following all completed penning classes on Sunday – Presentations to all the class winners –buckles; saddle certificates; prizes; and payout cheques which should be about 20 minutes after the last class in order to complete all the points and print out the winning cheques.
